Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas joined Music Will students in a Los Angeles elementary school and rocked their worlds! He wasn’t expecting how hard his own world would be rocked by these kids.
Taboo grew up just 20 minutes from Miramonte Elementary in East Los Angeles where, like most elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, music programming was almost non-existent – that is until Jose Vergara received free instruments and accompanying curriculum from Music Will.
“It’s an honor for me to support music education in my community. As a parent and a lifelong Angeleno, I recognize the importance of the Arts in our classrooms,” Taboo said. “Music Will does such important work keeping music in the schools and I encourage everyone to get involved by donating and supporting their cause.”
Taboo hopped onstage with the kids and performed before a packed auditorium. People were out of their seats jumping and dancing around in no time! Even the performing Music Will students were dancing, making the show that much more entertaining for their peers.
“Almost everyday I get asked by parents and students who want to join the Music Will program,” Vergara says. “My students have become the pride of their school.”
Taboo even took the time to pop in and out of classrooms, sign autographs for just about every single student, parent and employee at the school, and for the members of the audience who did not speak English, the local hero addressed the crowd in Spanish.
For the school, this was a special day. For the Music Will students who practiced so hard all year, this was the reward of a lifetime.
