Washington Music Teacher Receives “Elevate Award”

Mr. Payne, the music teacher at Victor Falls Elementary School in Bonney Lake, Washington received a surprise visit to his classroom last week. During one of his music periods, He was awarded the “Elevate Award” by Western Governors University. Payne was nominated for everything he has done to develop an innovative music program and enhance the learning environment for all students. The award is given to individuals who contribute to high-quality learning opportunities and support the educational success of others.

This is his first year teaching at Victor Falls Elementary and has already evolved his Modern Band Program into a thriving environment for his emerging students. Honored and emotional to receive this award, Payne shared he is appreciative to hear the positive feedback his students revealed in the eight months they have been learning under him. In fact, they enthusiastically join their teacher on their recess break to log in more rehearsal hours.

We share our gratitude for the educators, like Mr. Payne who passionately goes above and beyond to create these environments that allow their students to express themselves. His student, Nora (11) “never had the chance to sing and he let her have that opportunity” to find her voice.

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate not just music teachers, but all educators who put their heart and soul into their students. Who help their students develop tools to prosper and add their mark to the world.

Music Will aims to train even more teachers like Ryan Payne with their unique modern band program as they reach a million more students over the next five years!
