Senior Coordinator, Institutional Giving

Summary of the Opportunity 

We are looking for a Senior Coordinator, Institutional Giving. This position will report to the Director, Institutional Giving.

At Music Will, the Institutional Giving team is one arm of the Development department that is currently responsible for generating more than $5M annually in grants to support the work of the organization. The Senior Coordinator, Institutional Giving fills an essential role at Music Will that includes generating compelling and targeted proposals for funding, managing a portfolio of institutional funders, stewarding relationships with grantors, and researching and cultivating prospective funders.


  • Drafting proposals, letters of inquiry, briefing materials, internal memos, and other documents
  • Assuring compliance with current grants in the portfolio by monitoring grant reporting requirements and preparing narrative and financial reports as appropriate
  • Identify and vet potential funders to grow the institutional funding portfolio according to programmatic priorities and scaling models
  • Conducting and compiling external research on arts and music education, youth development, and mentoring among other issues to strengthen and update case statements
  • Maintaining an updated set of supporting materials
  • Processing grants in database, preparing grantor acknowledgments, and liaising with finance and program staff to coordinate bookkeeping allocations
  • Supporting organization-wide and development initiatives

Required Skills and Experiences 

  • At least 2-4 years of experience in successful grantsmanship, which includes writing, reporting,  and interacting with funders
  • Proven superior writing skills with a clear, concise, and compelling style overall; able to adapt personal writing style to capture the voice of Music Will and tell the Music Will story
  • Ability to organize, expedite, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, working within and across diverse groups and teams
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities and new opportunities
  • Workplace experience using donor databases such as Salesforce
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and internet search engines
  • A strong collaborator, who can work well with colleagues, recognize and optimize their talents, expertise and skills, and foster cross-departmental enthusiasm for generating grant support

Preferred Skills and Experiences 

  • Experience working as an educator, or with educators is a plus
  • Music maker is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range for this position is $60,435 – $81,765 per year. Location and Travel

This is a full-time position, based remotely. Occasional travel will be required, including funder site visits and events such as our annual Modern Band Summit each summer.
