Shout out to my High School Chorus teacher Mrs. Gurman. Your encouragement led to a career in music for me and my sister. First, as performers traveling the world as background singers in a band and now by helping to transform students' lives through Music Will.
Shout out Mr. Chow from Mira Costa High School! You always went above and beyond to make each student in the classroom feel seen.
So excited to share some appreciation for my AP Psychology teacher, Mr. Piper. Your class not only helped me identify my passions but you also taught me not to take life so seriously. I’ve never had the chance to tell you that I ended up majoring in Psychology and Cognitive Science because of you!

Shoutouts to my friends, who through their love of sports, fitness, science, and teamwork, have made education fun and meaningful for hundreds of kids.
Big love to my mother Lois, who showed me that you can teach through showing compassion.
Big R! Thanks for being the best third grade teacher a kid could have asked for.
I want to shout out my AP calculus teacher, Mr. Kahn. Not only did you inspire me to learn math, but you also helped me speak up, ask questions, and persevere when things get tough. You're also the only teacher I know who can inspire an entire class of High Schoolers to learn and play Contract Bridge.
Showing some appreciation to my 8th grade science teacher, Mr. Rosato, at Lincoln Elementary School in Torrance, CA, who not only showed me great patience as my teacher, he was someone who had such a great sense of humor and made learning a little more palatable for a struggling student like me.
I want to shout out my college professor, Professor Dougherty. She continuously pushed me to do my best and I’m forever grateful for her guidance.
I want to send some appreciation to Don Perkins from Apple Valley High School in Minnesota. He helped me to see the world in a more interesting and kind way and, just as importantly, got me into Rage Against the Machine.
Shouting out my second grade teacher Ms. Perry at Rosemary Hills in MD! She encouraged my creative writing and I think about that everytime I question my abilities, she continues to inspire me to trust myself.
