Currently, young children growing up in Haiti are faced with an abundance of daily life struggles. The infamous earthquake of 2010 left many parts of the country decimated, with little access to food, water, shelter, and other necessities. Children across the county seek to find that one thing to help lift their spirits and give them hope. This is where music comes in.
In the Fall of 2014, Music Will commenced a partnership with Music Heals International, a non-profit organization that helps to elevate marginalized children in Haiti and elsewhere by building their ability to successfully address life’s challenges. This particular sector has also collaborated closely with the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, working with schools across the country with little access to musical instruments and instruction.
Music Will is proud to celebrate World Music Day, a day to acknowledge the magic created by the melody and the rockstar within all of us. We are proud to give young people across the United States and beyond the opportunity to unleash their inner music makers. Now is the time to celebrate keeping song alive, but it’s also the time to remember to never let circumstances hold someone back from chasing their dream and keeping their head up high.
